n. The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.
Watch this actual advertisement from House Republicans:
Astoundingly pathetic isn’t it?
Check out this satirical video from Mark Fiore:
For background on retro-active immunity for telecoms that helped Bush warrantlessly spy on American citizens read what I wrote about this issue most recently here, and previously here and here.
Maybe its just my computer, but I can’t see the images.
They aren’t images, they’re YouTube videos… if you’re at work they might be blocked.
This is the direct link to the YouTube video from the House Republicans. And here is the one from Mark Fiore.
Hmmm no I don’t know. I was at home then but they work for me now at work. I only watched the GOP video, and without sound, but honestly I think thats enough to get the point. The editing is hilarious. The “3, 2, 1…” business is classic. Whether its about safety or not, and however you feel about the whole issue, I think everyone can agree that the video crosses the line from actual message into blatant propaganda. It certainly does a disservice to their cause to make a clip that looks like an introduction to a video game, or worse, an excerpt from a movie with a “1984″ type message.
Another technical difficulty though, the site looks fine on IE, but the layout is all F’ed up for me on Firefox.
[Thanks for the heads up, WordPress was adding in some unwanted HTML around the YouTube embed code. Should look fine in Firefox now. - Chris]
It turns out that the video is almost an exact ripoff of the trailer for the newest season of 24.
Well there you go.
