I think that Obama felt he had to directly address the Wright issue as firmly as he could in light of the Reverend's reappearances and behavior at the NPC. It does bother me that he chose to diss Farrakhan and completely discredit some of Wright's statements though.

As for the media attention, I've heard many people that question the kind of judgement Obama possesses because of his relationship with Wright, and also those who wonder if it foreshadows Obama's potential policymaking in the White House. So while there may be far more pressing issues to discuss, I think this is important enough to deserve the media coverage.

I think that article was in the NY Times, but I don't remember exactly. I do remember that McCain was far worse than either Democrat. Still, the point is not who is worse, but that all candidates are either making false campaign promises or being fiscally irresponsible.

I mean yeah Obama is sort of attached to Wright, but Wright certainly doesn’t speak for him and the media shouldn’t expect him to answer for everything the guy says.

Precisely. Are there any politicians out there who haven't at one point in time been associated with some inflammatory individual?

Oh and the big question we really need to be asking candidates is how they can explain the fact that all of them will have trillions in budget deficits under their proposed platforms.

I read something recently about how Obama's plans would increase the deficit but not nearly as much as Clinton's. McCain's plans were actually worse since he wanted to cut taxes. I wish I could remember where I read all that...

I think the biggest problem is the media is giving Wright a voice when he maybe doesn't deserve one. The guy is using this as an opportunity to spout off and he is saying some pretty ridiculous stuff. Then it gets worse cause anything Wright says is wrongly associated with Obama. I mean yeah Obama is sort of attached to Wright, but Wright certainly doesn't speak for him and the media shouldn't expect him to answer for everything the guy says.
