CNN says, “the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 Wednesday that child rapists cannot be executed, concluding capital punishment can be applied only against murderers.”
Child rapists are most certainly detestable creatures. However, the power of government to take away a life is extreme and dangerous. It should only be wielded when absolutely necessary.

Where’s the post about Imus?
Imus clearly has a tin ear, but I’m not ready to crucify him again for what he said.
I still go back to the day after the 2006 elections. Harold Ford Jr. was on his show to talk about his close election loss in Tennessee. Imus swore it was because of racism in Tennessee, and he kept saying how much of a shame it was that he lost. And on TV you could see Imus crying or on the verge of it.
No. This latest blow-up is absolutely retarted. If you actually take one minute to even read the context, much less listen to the conversation… it is QUITE apparent that he is being sarcastic.
But of course it’s not that easy, and we have ignorant dumbasses who just hear what they want to hear. I saw that Pacman (sorry, Adam) Jones himself said something to the effect of “it is obvious that Don Imus has issues with black people… I hope his network takes appropriate action… I pray for him.” When I saw that quote on SportsCenter, I actually sighed. Loudly and involuntarily.
I agree with you Ted, but Imus is so irrelevant now. This isn’t the 70s. I don’t really see that it matters if he says racist stuff anyways. Free speech and all. What is more troubling is if he has enough listeners who want to hear him say racist stuff.
Hey — he’s not irrelevant to me! He does his radio show in my building, with the window open so you can see how old he really is.
Actually to tell you the truth I stopped caring a while ago.
I miss watching his show on MSNBC in the morning. ‘Morning Joe’ is garbage by comparison.
