“This is a clear choice that the American people have. I had the courage and the judgment to say I would rather lose a political campaign than lose a war. It seems to me that Obama would rather lose a war in order to win a political campaign.” - John McCain

This quote from McCain is full of fun stuff. First, he congratulates himself on being courageous. I guess we can throw out the myth that he’s Mr. Humble. Second, he equates withdrawal from Iraq as losing, despite the wishes of a majority of Americans and more importantly, Iraqis. Third, he pretty much calls Obama a traitor.

On a political level the message makes even less sense for McCain. By  admitting his position will mean electoral defeat, he’s conceding that leaving Iraq would be the popular and democratic thing to do. Combine that with his statement about courage and judgment and you here you have McCain calling the majority of Americans foolish cowards.

As a response to this insult, I would like to quote General Wesley Clark:

[McCain] hasn’t held executive responsibility. … I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president.

McCain campaigns to be the next Almighty:

POSTER: A god-like McCain looks down from the clouds

If McCain is a god, are those fighter jets his angels? And why does the sky look like it’s on fire? What the hell…

It looks like a cover of a historical romance novel, set amidst the turmoil of WWII where Jenny, the pretty young nurse, falls desperately in love with the injured fighter pilot who during recovery, descovers he is God Almighty and the Chosen One to lead us into indefinate Iraqi occupation. Queue the harp and doves.

Meh, he can say what he wants about the war. What is surprising about what he said was that he is predicting his own defeat. What politician does this? Thats for like marginal candidates and third party guys.

What an interesting poster though. It says “peace” and shows fighter planes. The color scheme of the clouds looks like something that should go on The View or something. The border looks like its supposed to have a marble texture. This designer should be fired…

The poster is also remarkably reminiscent of the Orwellian saying “War is Peace.” Remarkable.

Only pinko-liberal-commies read Orwell. Who cares what they say?
